報告人簡介:Intermetallics of metals of very different properties (M/E) can potentially substitute industrial catalysts based on rare and precious metals. To realize this opportunity, atom-precise/-efficient catalyst design is required at the size regime of £ 1 nm, where every metal atom‘counts’. Such intermetallic clusters are molecular counterparts of the solid state M/E materials. Recently, we discovered a novel way to generate ‘living libraries’ of meta-stable, all-hydrocarbon ligated clusters [MaEb](R)n (R = hydrocarbon protective group). The electronic structure of the clusters’“superatomic” valence shell controls stability and reactivity. Our approach holds much promise for cluster science in general as it may enable exploiting organometallic precursor chemistry towards a systematic identification of novel, highly reactive, even catalytically active, all-hydrocarbon ligated mixed metal clusters across the periodic table.
報告摘要:Prof. Roland A. Fischer is Managing Director of the TUM Catalysis Research Centre. Previously he was Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at Ruhr-University Bochum and at Heidelberg University (1996-1997). He is a member of the European Academy of Sciences, and is member of editorial board for Angewandte Chemie. He previously held the position of the Vice-Rector for teaching affairs at Ruhr-University Bochum, the Vice President of German Research Foundation (DFG). Prof. Roland A. Fischer has published about 650 original papers. His research interest focusses on functional molecular materials for advancing applications in energy conversion, catalysis, gas storage and separation, chemical sensing, photonics and microelectronics.
